Is it necessary to wax your vehicle all the time?

There is no standard answer regarding how often you should wax. Many variables influence the life of the wax:
  • Type of paint
  • Condition of paint
  • Local environment (normal conditions and extraordinary events)
  • Number of hours exposed to outside conditions
  • Quality and type of wax applied
  • Quality of wash solution used to wash car
How can I tell when I need to re-apply either a wax or a polish to my car's paint again?

After washing and drying your car, take a clean, dry 100% cotton terry cloth towel fold it until you have a thick towel that your hand fits comfortably across with now fingers hanging over the edges, and then push down on it and twist it in a clockwise/counter clockwise manner. If you hear squeaking, that's a sure sign you need to wax.

I don't really take waxing my car that serious at the moment. I should probably pay more attention to it now I know when I should be doing it. Thanks a lot hummer.

Whats the best brand of wax to use?
Ive been trying to find a good one, not one of those cheap brands that damage the paint.

Any recommendations?

How many hours, if a car is exposed to outside conditions, would be long enough to affect the wax?
I realise that temperature would have a big effect, but is there an average lifespan?
