H3 Warranty Woes Hey guys (and gals). I'm new here, but not new to my H3, which I purchased in August of 2005...Anyway I wanted to to let you know that I just had an interesting problem that apparently will not be covered under warranty. I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that my H3 has never been "off-road." I drive mostly I95 (highway) to and from work. Anyway I was coming home about 2 weeks ago, and my rear fender (the portion that attaches to the rear door on the drivers side) literally flew off the truck. (Keep in mind the truck has never been off road, and never in an accident). I took it to my local dealer and explained what happened. Their reasoning was that water seeped behind the seal and ice formed weakening the metal and plastic clips that hold the fender portion on. Sounds good to me. I live in Maryland and we had a bout of extremely cold weather, wind and ice/freezing rain. They contacted GM and reported the problem and asked a rep to come look at the vehicle. Long story short, they are not covering the replacement/repair because supposedly I am the first person this has ever happened to. GM's explanation is that someone must have come up and tried to pry the fender loose...
Has anyone out there unexpectedly lost their rear fender? I'd really like to hear from you as I am taking my H3 in tomorrow to have the freshly painted fender re-attached to my truck, at a cost of $250+ out of pocket. |
